Thomas Knoll was studying Engineering at the University. His brother was at Industrial Light and Magic. His brother John recommended to Thomas for doing a great effort about full featured image editor software.

Adobe Photoshop-1.0 in 1990
It was the Macintosh version. After The first version of the Photoshop they were continuously trying to improve features of Photoshop.There were only 4 developers name on this version splash screen -
Adobe Photoshop-2.0 in 1991
Photoshop 2.0 has the Path feature, and save path element. This feature could be supplementary by Mark Hamburg, Adobe hired him to work on the software.Photoshop 2.0 required 4 MB RAM to run rather than 2 MB, In 1992 Photoshop 2.5 released, it was the first release for Windows OS.
Adobe Photoshop 3.0 came with layers feature.
Layers makes easy to work on an image.
Thomas Knoll the main creator of this software, and other engineer was worked for its improvement.
Photoshop 4.0 has new Adjustment layers and macros. They were two most important features of this version. With the help of Adjustment layers user can apply one effect to a group of layer. The imperative change to Photoshop 4.0 was unification of the user interface with other Adobe products.
The most essential features added with Photoshop 5.0 were editable type and the ability to undo actions many times it was added in History palette.
Many other improvement were done like Color Management. it automatically convert the colors of an image at opening time, For make selection easy it has The magnetic lasso tool also.
Adobe Photoshop 5.5 in 1999
Photoshop5.5 featured Save for Web option. It allows save the picture for web use, user can adjust image quality and size.
Photoshop Version5.0 was not able to take the Web into account. Version 5.5 has Image Ready, which is separate program for edit web-graphics.
The layer styles panel and Vector shapes were more new feature in this version for draw vector shapes like arrows into a bitmap.
A new custom shapes palette for draw using vector shapes, it’s better than just with lines shapes. Text also cab added on shapes. First of the time multi layer functions available made new appearance in version6.0. The Blending Options also released with Photoshop 6.0.
Adobe Photoshop 7.0 2002
The healing brush and text added in Version7.0 that was completely vector based.
This version has patch tool, with the capability to make custom brushes.
Spell check and find/replace feature updated to the text tool.
Photoshop CS version8.0
It is very improved version it has scripting support with many web languages, as well as JavaScript. Layer groups feature were include with this version8.0, user can work with various layers and grouped together for effects apply which was not available in other versions.
Photoshop CS has very easier than others and it support the 16-bit and larger images which are very important for photographers and designers.
Adobe Photoshop CS2 in 2005
Photoshop CS2 version9.0 has very nice feature as the red eye removal tool, previously exclusive to Elements, The Vanishing Point option allow editing images in viewpoint.
After great success Photoshop CS3 10.0 released. Its tool is easier to use and very comfortable for professional photographers and designers. The most important & major feature is updates to Adobe Camera RAW and Quick Selection tool and alterations to core commands similar to Black and White conversion and Brightness/Contrast clone stamp tool.CS3 available in Standard & Extended editions. For this version user need high capability system to run it smoothly.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 in 2008
Photoshop CS4 version11.0 has very smoother tools. Zooming is more relevant and faster user can drill down of an image. New Masks and Adjustments panel has added. Color correction is very perfect in it.
